Genetic counselling aims to help individuals, couples and families understand and adapt to the medical, psychological, familial and reproductive implications of the genetic contribution to specific health conditions.
We assist clients by breaking down complex medical information and providing education, advice and support.
Our experience in genetic counselling includes familial cancer, prenatal, paediatric, adult, neurogenetic, cardiac and preconception genetic counselling.
We also specialise in presymptomatic testing for adult onset neurological conditions such as Huntington disease and motor neuron disease, predictive testing for familial cancer and preconception genetic counselling.
During the process of genetic counselling, we discuss with clients the benefits, disadvantages and limitations of genetic testing.
An initial consultation of up to 45 minutes is $200.
All subsequent appointments are $140.
Any genetic tests ordered will be invoiced directly by the pathology company conducting the test. The cost of this test will be advised before proceeding.
No referral is required for genetic counselling.
